A Cute Hula Girl!

Aloha my friends! My husband and I are Kauai bound in a couple days. We are so excited. We are going with my brother-in-law and his girlfriend. We are staying at the beautiful Marriott Resort in Lihue. We stayed there about 7 years ago so I am anxious to see their 50 million they spent on improvements!

In honor of our up and coming vacation I downloaded this cute little Hawaiian Hula Girl digi from Make it Crafty They have all kinds of different images you can buy to download to your computer! It sure saves on space in your craft space downloading these images rather than buying rubber mounted stamps on wood or even acrylic stamps. Lord knows we all have a lot to store! I love the way she turned out. I colored her with my copics. The other day when I and the Scrap Girls got together to scrap I brought one of these images and colored her. I wasn't crazy about the skin tone I used so I decided to re-color one when I got home. This little girl has a much better tone to her skin and hair. I love the way the shadowing came out on her legs and feet. I am going to try something new now.....posting the color of Copics I used!

  • Skin; E 30, 31, 33 cheeks R 20
  • Eyes; E 25, 29
  • Hair; E 43, 44, 47, 49
  • Skirt; YG 00, 13, 95, G 99
  • Flower in Hair; R 00, 20, 22, YR 000, Y 00

And if you are worried about the dogs while we are gone......don't be. Ethan will be here to take care of them.

Aloha!

My Halloween Witch

Hey Scrap friends......... well I have been painting, cutting paper, stamping, gluing, etc. again today.  This is my Halloween Witch collage. I have been working on her all day and my hands are covered in many colors of paint, wax pastel crayons, and glue. I am having the worse time trying to figure out what setting to put my camera on to get the best photograph. I wish the picture would show the true colors and detail better.

I'll keep working on it....till I get it right. But here's another angle to show you.......

I started out by painting my 12" x 12" canvas black but when I thought about how I wanted to make my witch... the black didn't work. So I decided to cover the canvas with music paper and a Halloween print, from there I added the paint. Her face is a nice shade of yellow-green and I decided to leave her with out features. I think she's more mysterious that way. On the upper right corner there is a spider web that doesn't show in this picture. The upper left side of the canvas I wanted it to look like a foggy night and as your eye moves from the left to right she looks like she's indoors.

I don't know if I am doing these things right but it's my style and I'm stickin to it!

Thanks for coming back to visit.....guess I better clean up my mess now!

Oh So Little..........

Here's my latest collage! This week the scrap girls came to my Scrap Loft (and one of them via skype) to make collages. This collage all began with this picture of my Mother as a baby. She passed away almost five years ago. I miss her so much and can't believe it's been that long. She was my best friend, we talked everyday.

I painted this little heart on her dress......she will forever be in my heart! There has been a lot of awful things going on with my family as of late....which I will not bore you with. I just wish I could tell her that I am sorry for the way things have turned out, but we always knew that the inevitable (with some) would happen sooner rather than later!

I just love this picture of her in her little bonnet. She was "oh so little" and innocent......

On my collage I tried to add things about her like, wonderful imagination, a great sense of humor, an artist, the color purple....and more. We called her Granny....and that she was, a tiny sweet caring woman, whom everyone liked.

After the Mod Podge dried I glued a couple cute buttons, a punched out double butterfly (with Bling!) and a nice pretty ribbon on the other to add some dimension.

There's lots of paint, printed paper, stamps, tape, tissue and doodles...... all layered up. It's funny...while creating a collage there are different stages that I don't like what I am making. So I add some more paint, doodles, rubons, etc....and it constantly changes with each addition. So I say if you don't like what you are creating .... keep going it will change....and you will fall in love.

I also am dreamin up one for Halloween!
